Micromanaging Employees & Pressuring Customers Does Not Work!

Boss: Why isn't that $500K deal coming in today like you promised?
Employee: Because the purchasing guy is out sick. I talked to someone else and they just can't make it happen but they said it'll be there first thing Monday morning. Now we'll start the month way ahead.

Boss: Maybe, but we missed our target for THIS month. Call them again. I'm sure you can find someone to process it for you.
Employee: I really can't. It'll sour our relationship if I push them. We'll still get the PO before the end of the quarter.

Boss: We need to meet our monthly targets. That's the most important thing. Call me back with an update after you talk to them.
Employee: Okay, boss. (Employee secretly decides to start job hunting after work)

Micromanagement doesn't work. Pressuring customers doesn't work.

Common sense > projection perfection.
