Top Email Pet Peeves You Must Avoid
Email mistakes are all too common. Here's some that really make customers cringe: ✍️
👉 Emails that are too long. Research shows the best response rates are for emails 50 words or LESS, yet most emails are WAY more than this.
👉 Bad grammar. If you want to say "you are", the right way to do it is "you're". Not "your". This is a VERY common mistake, even in the business world.
👉 Trying too hard to get their attention. Feel free to simply introduce yourself. This means starting the email with "I am reaching out to introduce myself". All my customer research shows that customers strongly prefer this, and recent research into over 3,000,000 emails from SalesLoft shows that it's okay, actually preferable to start an email with the word "I", rather than "You" or "We".
This seems so simple, but if you do these things, your email will be truly different than the other 297 emails your customer gets today. Let your email be the breath of fresh air your recipient needs.
Oh, and these apply to internal emails too. Make yourself stand out to your co-workers by keeping emails short and sweet.
