Customer Ignoring You?
Customers can be fickle. They are excited about your meeting one minute, and the next, they ignore you. Sometimes for months. I recently did a seminar for an energetic sales team, and one important question came up: What should I do to get a customer to re-engage? They shared stories about this exact scenario: you meet with the customer, they want quotes and info from you…and then SILENCE.
My answer? There are three proven, tested ways I have found to get a customer to re-engage:
1. Send them a video message. This has worked for countless customers of mine. Send them a quick text video, remind them where you left off and ask them to call. It works. Trust me.
2. Send them an Outlook invite. This is risky and only works if you know the customer SUPER well and if they customer was truly excited. This allows them to easily accept your invite or propose a new time. Again, I have tested this personally and it has also worked so many times for students of mine.
3. Send them an email and make the subject line very specific. Example: Did You Get Those Specs for the Project? If you follow me, you know that I’m a big fan of short subject lines (mostly because that’s what research says works best), but in this ONE instance, it’s okay to have a super long subject line. Remind them specifically where you left off (politely of course) and this can really jog the memory and get them moving. This works well internally as well.
