Understand the Difference Between TEACHING Slides & PRESENTATION Slides

Have you ever been (un)fortunate enough to have to sit through a Power Point deck with 85 slides with teensy, tiny font? 🙋‍♀️. Most of us have, and it can be SO painful.

As you think through your next Power Point deck, ask yourself: Is my goal to EDUCATE or PERSUADE?

If your goal is to PERSUADE, whether you’re trying to sell yourself into a promotion, win a deal, or propose a new strategy or process, you should be thinking: What can I delete?  Less is more (truly). You simply need to give them enough information to help them make the decision. Anything else is boring, overkill, and ruins your message.

If you’re trying EDUCATE, that’s a totally different story. If that’s your goal, you probably can’t get around using some teensy, tiny font, and honestly they will probably appreciate being able to go back later and reference all the info.

The key to making effective PowerPoints is to define your goals: Educate or Persuade? Your audience will thank you!

What’s New?

My grandmother broke her hip last year and never recovered. One of the reasons she never recovered is that she got confused when she went into the hospital and I sure wish she’d had an opportunity to choose Home Hospital. When patients recover at home, they sometimes get less confused and have better mobility. It’s such an amazing product and that’s why I was honored to work with Best Buy Health this week on learning some tips and tricks on positioning Home Hospital. Thank you so much for having me. It was truly an honor to work with you!!
