Episode 10: How to Be More Likeable On Camera: Interview With Expert Julie Hansen
In our podcast with Chris Nowak, he discusses how he has seen some really great virtual customer meetings, and some not so great ones. The technical side is very important, and making sure there are no glitches, but there is a lot more to consider.
Julie Hansen is an expert on virtual meetings. Specifically, she helps people look good and most importantly, how to be likable on camera.
Many salespeople have learned some good presentation basics. But there’s often a big gap between knowing and doing. For most sales teams, it’s not enough to have “good eye contact” and “avoid reading from your slides.”
On today’s podcast, Julie really dives into some specifics on things we can do to look better on screen. She even evaluates Katie’s camera presence and style, and gives her some tips to improve, so you can learn from her mistakes!
In this episode, Julie shares insight on:
Effective virtual background techniques
Technical requirements
What we should be doing with our hands
How to have good energy on camera
How to get warmed up for our presentations
Julie’s unique insight is so helpful to any sales person looking to do a better job of interacting with customers in a virtual way.
The trick to looking good on camera is investing the time (and money) into your set-up. Once you do, it’s easy to quickly access it and look good. And you can probably expense everything, so I would recommend you invest in the following. A good set-up can be done for less than $150, and I link to everything I have below.
A good web cam (they can be purchased for less than $100)
