Great Managers Don’t Manage Vacation Days

I never had a cavity until I graduated from college. I thought my teeth were perfect and I was immune to cavities. I was wrong. And it wasn't because I was eating lots of candy.

It was because I only had 10 vacation days and I didn't want to waste a precious day of vacation at the dentist, so I went a year and a half without a teeth cleaning.

I left that job as soon as I could. Their micro-management of my doctors appointments and vacation days sure didn't create any sense of loyalty in me. It just made me bitter.

Good managers don't manage vacation days or dentist appointments. And good employees don't take advantage of that.
