I'm really good at helping my kid with basketball because I PLAYED basketball. I'm not so good at helping him with football.

As humans, we are the sum of our life's experiences. To be a good sales manager, it's my opinion that the manager should have spent some time BEING a sales rep.

Nothing teaches you the frustration, the technique and the skill like actually doing it yourself. I've seen sales managers come from marketing and other roles, and the best ones come from sales.
